A traditional soup that is typically prepared and served only a week before Easter. The ingredients include, pumpkin, gourd, twelve different kinds of grains, fava beans, salt and cod. The soup is cooked in milk during to the prohibitation of red meat the week of Easter. It is garnished with hard boiled eggs, empanadas, plantains and parsley. The eating and making of this soup is usually a family activity and funtion. Most may think this soup would be a dinner meal but it is the mid-day meal due to the eduadorian culture.
